Joel Grimes is a renowned photographer known for his distinctive style of creating larger-than-life portraits. He graduated from the University of Arizona in 1984 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Photography. Soon after graduating, he established a commercial studio in Denver, Colorado, where he began his successful career.

Joel's impressive portfolio includes working with top advertising agencies and corporations, taking him to every state in the USA and over fifty countries worldwide. His talent and dedication have earned him recognition and accolades from industry leaders. After ten years as an exclusive Explorer Of Light photographers, Joel has now been selected as one of the elite Canon Legend Photographers.  In addition, FJ Westcott has designated him as a Top Pro Elite photographer and Adobe also acknowledged his skills by naming him one of their Photoshop Feature Artists.

In 1990, Joel published his first coffee table book titled "Navajo, Portrait of a Nation." The book received numerous awards for its photography and design. It also led to an eighteen-month solo exhibit at the Smithsonian American History Museum, showcasing Joel's exceptional work.

Joel's artistic approach can be described as that of an illusionist. He aims to capture the unique essence of each individual through his creative photographic process. He believes that there is no face on the planet that is the same, and his goal is to reflect and showcase this individual uniqueness in his portraits.

Beyond his personal work, Joel is passionate about sharing his knowledge and inspiring others in the field of photography. He serves as an ambassador for his creative process by conducting workshops and delivering lectures worldwide. By being open and transparent about his techniques and artistic vision, he hopes to encourage others to pursue their dreams and passions in the realm of creation.

Joel splits his time between his photo studio in the Arts District of Los Angeles and his home in Wickenburg, Arizona. This balance allows him to work in a bustling creative environment while also enjoying the tranquil surroundings of his Arizona residence.
